Day Two: The Exhibits

We came in with a plan.  The plan was to be VERY CHOOSY when we were in the exhibit hall, because we have to fly home and there's only so much we can take.  Guess how well that worked?  Yeah.  Not very.  We have no self control when it comes to new, shiny, free books.  None at all.  I didn't do so badly yesterday.  I kept it to seven.  This morning...well.  I don't want to talk about it.  Anna and my prized ARC, much like last year, is Goliath by Scott Westerfeld.

Karen Cushman, author of a million things.

Rick Riordan, author of The Percy Jackson series, The Kate Chronicles, and The Heroes of Olympus.

Julie Kagawa, author of the Iron Fae series.

 Dan Gutman, author of many children's books.  He and Alana are having a very serious conversation.

Franny Billingsley, author of Chime, which was awesome.  She is awesome as well, it turns out.

Ellen Hopkins, author of a million things.  Her newest is Perfect, coming in September.

Cassandra Clare, author of The Mortal Instruments series and the new Infernal Device series.  They were NOT giving out ARCs of Clockwork Prince.  Sob.

Brenna Yovanoff, author of The Replacement and soon-to-come-out The Space Between.

Sarah Dessen, author of a million books.  Her newest is What Happened to Goodbye.


Anna and I got to speak with Hallie Warshaw, publisher and creative director of Zest Books.  Zest is a really fun, quirky publishing company that publishes non-fiction.  Their books are fun and teen accessible and on all sorts of topics from fashion to sustainability to LGBTQ issues.

Anna, Alana and I almost fell over when we realized that Gail Carriger, author of the hysterical The Parasol Protectorate series was going to be at the Science, Fantasy, and Information Science panel that was this afternoon.  Stay tuned for summaries of the talks and panels from today!
